Paw Luxuries Magazine Launches Website for November
Paw Luxuries, the Magazine for Pampered Paws, now has a website for your upscale pet needs
November 3, 2004 -- The only magazine devoted to the subject of pampering pets has arrived. Paw Luxuries Magazine is a quarterly publication dedicated to high-end pet products available to consumers. The premiere issue will be published in the Spring of 2005 and will be widely available in South Florida, New York and Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta, as well as many upscale pet boutiques across the country.
“It is no secret that the pet industry is booming,” says Lauren Halperin, publisher and editor-in-chief of Paw Luxuries Magazine who also publishes Table for Two Magazine. “But the high-end market has continued to capture attention and dollars, despite a down economy. There are pet owners out there—myself included—who want their pets to have only the best of everything and are willing to spend whatever it takes to accomplish this.”
In 2004, Unity Marketing conducted the study “Why People Buy Things for Their Pets.” This study concluded that the amount of money pet owners spent on “extras” for their pets more than doubled between 2001 and 2003. It states that there are those who see their pets merely as animals who live with them, and there are others who feel that pets are their children and have a very strong emotional bond with them. It is this collection of individuals which Paw Luxuries will cater to.
“The industry is no longer average dog food, basic collars and bowls and a tennis ball for a toy,” Halperin says. “The industry includes jewelry, pet clothing that matches human clothing, designer dog carriers, commissioned pet portraits, and four-poster canopy dog beds. Dog food is now organic, collars and sparkling with Swarovski crystals and toys are now digital. The first thing I had to buy my dog was a Louis Vuitton dog carrier.”
The publication will be geared more towards dog owners, however will include cat products which do not overlap in the market (i.e. bowls) and there are plans to launch a separate feline version in the future. Paw Luxuries Magazine will feature editorial content that highlights the most upscale, elegant, and posh of pet trends, products, celebrity pet owners, profiles of designers and those who go to extremes to lavish their pets, destinations, and ways to pamper your pet.
Articles in the premier issue will include:
• Designer Tails - in depth looks at the fascinating personalities who epitomize the Paw Luxuries lifestyle, captured in ‘cameo' portraits and feature profiles
• Pampered Stories – real stories of the lengths few will go to achieve the ultimate in pet pampering, first up: a woman who spent $30,000 on her dog's wedding
• First Class – profiles of dog-enthusiastic destinations at five-star resorts and hotels
• Paw Products – the latest buzz on everything from fashion and home décor, to grooming treatments and jewelry for your pet.
