We're all filled up - Your new pet will be too

TORONTO, Feb. 17 /CNW/ - The Toronto Humane Society is jam-packed full of animals looking for new homes. In an effort to help increase and promote adoptions during this overwhelming crisis, the Society is hosting a special adoption promotion from Friday, February 18 - Sunday, February 20.

Every animal adopted this weekend will go home with a complimentary food supply. For every dog adopted, the Society will provide 120 pounds of food. For every cat adopted, the Society will provide 10 pounds of food. This adoption promotion is part of an ongoing effort to find hundreds of animals loving new homes.

The fee to adopt a cat or kitten is $25. The fee to adopt a dog or puppy is $50. Rabbits and other small domestic animals are $4 - $20.

"This promotion was created with the hope of finding new families for the growing number of animals in need," says Lynda Elmy, Communications Manager. "The past six months have been a challenging time for The Toronto Humane Society. We are constantly looking for creative new ways to draw people to the shelter to adopt."

The usual adoption process will apply; potential adopters must fill out an application and go through an interview process.

In addition to the promotional offer of complimentary pet food, adoptions include: vaccinations to date, one month of Shelter Care insurance, a microchip identification implant, flea control treatment, a sample bag of cat/kitten food or discount coupon for Royal Canin Inc. puppy/dog food, and pet care information booklet. As well, many of the animals are already spayed or neutered.

The Toronto Humane Society's Adoption Department is open:
Monday to Friday - 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday - 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
