Dear Yvette,
I am almost 7 months pregnant and I am concerned about my dog. He will be turning 2 years old right before the baby comes. He still likes to jump and play alot. I want to prepare him for this but unsure how. Any suggestions?
Hi Deanna,
There is an Awesome book called, "Happy Kids, Happy Dogs," by Barbara Shumannfang. It's all about prepping a dog for a baby. Full instructions - fabulous. When the baby comes and starts being read to, then I must confess that I am partial to the book that we put together to teach children how to better behave around dogs called, "Meeting Milo." There are many free resources on our website that might help you out. (www.meetingmilo.com)
Between the two books, you'll probably have cornered just about every issue you need. Friendly is good. But you might want to get the obedience a little under control. Some basic manners classes might help with that. The "Happy Kids, Happy Dogs," does have some advice on this line too though. Pretty sure that both are available at http://www.dogwise.com. I don't believe either are available in traditional book stores. Most of the books trainers reference to are not.
Best of luck and congratulations on the pending addition to your family. It's a big job, but not impossible. I happen to have a little boy of my own.
Have an Awesome Day,
Yvette
