petFINDER

*Manufacturer Description*

Makes traditional pet tags obsolete. It's like giving your pet a toll-free calling card... in case they need to reach you!

You've brought your dog along on a family trip to visit relatives and one day he decides to go off and see the local sites.

Losing a pet can be traumatic enough. He doesn't know that area and unlike home, no one known him!

As you start to go look for him, the phone in the house rings and the caller tells you that your dog just wandered onto her yard and she has him! How did this happen?

You are hundreds of miles away from home. The caller didn't know you, your relatives or your dog… yet she was directly connected to your relatives home number.

Your dog was protected by a "first of its kind" ID tag that works more like a calling card for lost pets.

Features:

  • Attaches to your pet's collar.
  • Toll-Free number to call.
  • Personal information not given out.
  • Contact information can be changed at any time (no charge).
  • Made of high density plastic.
  • Quite unlike metal tags.
  • Contact phone numbers can be changed at any time.
  • One time purchase fee.

    Conclusion:

One can never be too cautious when it comes to our Fur Babies being lost. I've been fortunate to have never had any of my dogs lost, but I can tell you about Lulu's sister that got out about a year ago. I got a call about 7AM from a neighbor telling me “Ginger” got out last night and is still missing. My heart sank as this was my Lulu's sister whom comes over to play on occasion. It was winter and the temperature was in the 30's overnight. I thought someone would find Ginger, read her tag, make a call and she would end up home that same day.

Sadly, she didn't have a tag or any identification at all. Her owner thought it was cruel to have a collar around her neck. Imagine that!!!

To make a long story short, Ginger was found by the county animal shelter and returned safely (only because they called to report her missing).

Now… back to my first sentence… “One can never be too cautious when it comes to our Fur Babies being lost.” That is so true.

This is where petFinder comes into play. You purchase the petFINDER at your local pet store or online, clip the tag to your pet's collar and make the call to the 800 toll free number. You'll follow the prompts and enter a brief outgoing message, then enter 3 different phone numbers and you're set. Your personal information is kept secret from anyone calling the 800 toll free number to contact you.

We called the 800 toll free number to set-up our petFINDER tag which took about 5 minutes. The majority of the time on the phone was listening to the prompts. It's just like setting up a voicemail at work or on your cell phone. The set-up can be a little confusing as the prompt repeats several times, but it wasn't too difficult.

After setting-up the petFINDER tag I called the 800 number on the back of the tag just as someone would if they found a missing dog. Immediately I heard the outgoing message I had left, then I was prompted to enter #1, #2 or #3 which corresponded to the phone numbers I had entered upon set-up. I was then immediately connected without being told what the number was.

Changing your contact phone numbers is easy. Dial the 800 number and follow the prompts and you're done. There is no charge for changing your contact phone numbers. Let's say you are going on vacation and taking your dogs with you, simply call the 800 number and enter the number of where you are staying along with your cell phone numbers.

In a major emergency where you have to evacuate without your pets (not that you would) you can enter new phone numbers at any time, this way rescuers can get in touch with you immediately.

There are no monthly or yearly monitoring fees. Your purchase price covers the monitoring.

The tag is a high density plastic just like the reward cards your grocery store gives you which we believe is better than metal tags for the simple reason that it won't make that annoying jingle jingle jingle noise when your pet takes a drink from the water bowl. As silly as that sounds, Scooby, our Pomeranian is freaked out by the sound and we have to remove his collar when he eats.

The overall concept of the petFINDER tag is good and solid. It compliments the standard metal engraved tag and microchip. In the past we have only had the metal tag and microchip on our dogs, but we will now use the petFinder tag to compliment them. Why not use every avenue possible to ensure the safe return of your precious Fur Baby.

We're pleased to rate the petFINDER with a “5 Paw” Review.
